FOUDATIONAL TEXTS

  1. Psalm 100:1-3
    1. We are called to serve the Lord which makes it easier to serve each other.
    2. Service [to God] is a barometer or indicator of who people truly are.
    3. Presentation and attitude matters to God and people.
  2. Isaiah 53:6
    1. It has been said that sheep are forgetful and as a matter of consequence cannot be trained.
    2. We often behave like sheep concerning Kingdom realities and God’s supernatural abilities.
    3. The remedy to forgetfulness is the engrafted voice in our heart.

 

INTRODUCTION

  1. Salvation is not all that God desires to do for His people.   Salvation is the beginning of the process with God.  While it’s a good beginning (like kindergarten); unfortunately, if we were to stop at salvation we would be ill prepared for life.
  2. God wants to develop Himself in the believer to such a degree that the believer becomes like Him in the earth.
    1. I John 4:17
      1. Church is designed to perfect the believer which is an ongoing process.  In other words, church attendance is vital to the perfecting process.
    2. Psalm 82:1-8
      1. The devil is pure evil.  He loves no one [not even children].
      2. The devil cannot process good.  He can only process killing, stealing and destruction.  When God is speaking, He leads us to the abundant life.  (Scripture reference – St. John 10:10)
      3. God calls us “gods”.  He is God in G-major.  We are gods in g-minor.
    3. Genesis 1:28
      1. It was God’s intention from the beginning for man to exercise authority in and over the earth.
    4. Psalm 115:16
      1. God has given us (His gods) the earth to occupy and dominate.
    5. Psalm 24:1
      1. God gifted the earth to the believer.
    6. St. John 10:25-27
      1. Salvation engrafts the voice of God in the believer and leads to goodness.  Lost people listen to the voice of the enemy.
    7. St. John 10:32-35
      1. Through the voice we learn how to live out our “goodness” in the earth.
      2. A definite specific Word for your life will come from the voice.   This implies that you cannot compare the Word for you with the Word to someone else.
      3. In other words, there is a difference between “a word” and “the Word”.

 

  1.          I.            God shepherds the sheep with His [great] voice.
    1. The engrafted voice is the remedy to our sheep-like tendency to forget.
      1. Psalm 88:12 – KJV, MSG
      2. James 1:25
      3. James 1:21 – KJV, AMP
      4. II Corinthians 5:17, AMP
    2. Elijah forgets his spiritual connection in God.
      1. I Kings 17
        1. Elijah prophesies there will be no rain for 3½ years.  During this time of drought and famine, Elijah is sustained miraculous by God.
        2. I Kings 18
          1. Elijah calls fire from heaven and supernaturally decapitates 850 false prophets after the contest on Mount Carmel.
          2.  Elijah prophesies rain after a 3½ year drought.
          3. I Kings 19:1-12 [Emphasis verses 3-9, 11-12]
            1. After all the supernatural feats of God, Elijah runs for his life from Jezebel.  (verse 3)
            2. One hint of destruction can cause us to forget the God we serve and His supernatural abilities.
            3. Elijah enters a state of depression and becomes suicidal.  (verse 4)
            4. An angel appears to Elijah encouraging him to eat [the word of God], preparing and strengthening him for the journey.  Hence, 40 is the number of preparation and the Word prepares us for the journey.  (verses 5-8)
            5. A supernatural meal (eating the word of God) is the answer to all life’s problems including depression and thoughts of suicide.
            6. After Elijah internalizes the meal (symbolic of the Word), the word of the Lord (a specific definite Word) comes to him.   (verse 9)
            7. The word of God (the Bible) becomes the word of the Lord (a specific Word to you for your life) when you immerse yourself in the Word and is able to discern His voice.
            8. In other words, the secret to the believer’s success is in the Word and the ability to follow the voice that comes from the Word.
            9. The Lord was not in the mountain, the earthquake or the fire.  The voice of the Lord was engrafted in Elijah’s spirit all the time.  (verses 11-12)
    3. Hebrews 13:20
      1. God shepherds the sheep by giving us His voice.
      2. It’s by His great voice that we will experience deliverance.
      3. God’s voice is undeniable and distinct.
