The Bread of Life/The Sovereignty of God

(Nothing is Impossible)

OPENING OBSERVATIONS

  1. Salvation comes by a confession of faith.  (Scripture reference – Romans 10:8-10)
  2. Salvation is a key to dominating the difficulties that come in life; a key to living the abundant life. (Scripture reference – St. John 10:10)

  1. Sovereign or the sovereignty of God does not mean…
    1. That God is in control of the earth’s affairs.  God is only in control of those things He has given Himself control of.   In other words, God is limited by His word.
      1. Psalm 24:1
        1. At one point, the earth and all its fullness were the Lord’s.
        2. Psalm 115:16
          1. God initially owned the earth but He gifted it to believers.
        3. Psalm 8:1-9
          1. God takes into account that man has a will; consequently, He will not override man’s will.
          2. God has given man control or authority over everything created under him, including angels.  (Scripture reference – Hebrews 1:13-14)
        4. Psalm 82:1-8
          1. We are in substance what our heavenly Father is.  In other words, we are gods in “g minor” and He is God in “G major”.
          2. God controls the heaven with His word; we control the earth with His words that are released from our mouths.
          3. We are mighty but God is Almighty.
      2. As believers, we are inheritors of the world.
        1. Romans 4:12-13
        2. Galatians 3:29
  2. Sovereign or the sovereignty of God means…
    1. God can use anything and everything to work His purpose in the earth.  He is not limited to how a thing naturally operates.
    2. Everything operates according to the spoken word of God.
      1. God reversed the nature of a raven to fulfill His purpose in Elijah’s life.  (I Kings 17)
      2. Isaiah 46:9-11
        1. God does not wait for you to have a problem to release an answer. (verse 10)
        2. Because He is sovereign, God counsel stands and He can do all His pleasures.  (verse 10)
        3. God spoke and reversed the natural order of a ravenous bird.  (verse 11)
      3. The Word does not have to follow natural rules.
        1. Water was released from a rock
        2. The sky gave up bread for 40 years to 3½ million people
        3. Money placed in the mouth of a fish

        6. Trees grew from a Word spoken (you are not subject to your creation but your creation is subject to you).
        7. Doors of opportunity and favor were opened for the children of Israel [and by your enemies].  (Exodus 12-14)
      4. There are no impossibilities with a sovereign God. (Scripture reference – St. Luke 1:37)
