INTRODUCTION

  1. If we can gain a proper understanding of Genesis [the first book of the Bible], we can understand the Bible and, consequently, the power of God.
  2. We study the Bible to know the spirit of the law not just the letter of the law.
  3. God uses His word as a pipeline to connect us with His power which is the love of God.
  4. In other words, the Bible connects us with God’s power and His compelling love toward man.
    1. St. Matthew 22:29
  5. You have the power of God when you know and understand the scriptures.
  6. Without an understanding of the Word, a believer cannot expect to lead a victorious life.

 

  1.          I.            The damaging effects of the fall (Genesis 4)
    1. Eve gives birth to Cain and experience sorrow in child birth because of the curse – Genesis 4:1.
    2. Cain brings God a bloodless offering that is rejected by God (because there was no covering by the blood); moreover, the ground is cursed.
      1. Genesis 4:3-5
        1. Cain, the first offspring of Adam and Eve, thought process is skewed.
        2. The fall impacted Adam and Eve’s mind to the degree they no longer think like God.
          1. Romans 12:2
          2. Isaiah 55:3
          3. We must now renew our minds to think and act like God, consequently, having the results of God.
    3. Cain kills his brother.
      1. Cain is the first murderer – Genesis 4:8
      2. Cain is the first human liar – Genesis 4:9
      3. Because the parents embraced Satan, the children have Satan’s nature.
    4. Cain marries one of his sisters and began to produce a family.
      1. Genesis 4:17
      2. Cain is driven from the blessings of God through his thinking.
      3. When you fall from God [in your thought life], you begin to call right as wrong.
        1. Proverbs 14:12
        2. Proverbs 16:25

·            Cain with a curse on him builds a city and names it Enoch after his son – Genesis 4:12

·            (We’ve been redeemed from the curse, so what’s in us).

·            Lamech, the great, great, great grandson of Cain, is the first polygamist and song writer – Genesis 4:19

·            Lamech, the second recorded murderer – Genesis 4:23

·            Jabal, the inventor of the tent and developer of the nomadic lifestyle.

·            Jubal, the inventor of string and musical instruments – Genesis 4:21

·            Tubalcain becomes the inventor of brass and ironGenesis 4:22

  1.         II.            The ministry of Enoch
    1. Enoch was one of two men who walked with God before the flood.  Noah was the other – Genesis 6:9
      1. Methuselah, the son of Enoch, lived 969 years – Genesis 5:27
    2. Enoch was the first recoded preacher who preach concerning a coming judgment – Jude 1:14-15
    3. Enoch was a man of great faith.
      1. Hebrews 11:5
      2. Enoch never saw death.  He walked from one realm right into the other realm.
    4. Enoch was one of two human beings who entered into heaven without dying physically.  Elijah was the other.
      1. I Kings 2:11
      2. I Corinthians 15:51-52
      3. I Thessalonians 4:16-17
        1. The condemnation of all things (Genesis 6)
          1. A great population explosion – Genesis 6:1
          2. Humanity is now depraved and twisted – Genesis 6:5-11
          3. There was an outpouring of satanic activity – Genesis 6:2
            1. The angels that were cast out of heaven with Satan became demons and copulated with humans to produce giants.
