INTRODUCTION

  1. God desires to expose the believer to a higher life that is not relegated to the natural realm.
  2. St. John 10:10, KJV & AMP
    1. Jesus came to influence the quality of your life.
    2. God is at work to bring you to total enjoyment in life.

 

GLOSSARY TERMS

  1. Sovereign…
    1. Supernatural; supernatural power unlimited by natural forces; not restricted by natural laws or beings.
    2. God has ultimate control over everything without any limits or ceilings.  God is only limited by His word.
    3. God having whatever He says.
    4. God is sovereign – Ecclesiastes 8:1-4
  2. Covenant…
    1. A formal agreement between two or more person to do or perform something specific.
    2. God’s covenant with Abraham – Genesis 12:1-3
  3. Catalyst…
    1. That which is responsible for causing activity, movement or progression between two or more forces.
    2. Tithing is a catalyst which causes God’s sovereignty to move in the financial arena
    3. For example, a faith-filled confession is the catalyst to salvation.  (Scripture reference – Romans 10: 8-10)
  4. Tithe…
    1. The first tenth of God’s increase indicating one’s covenant with God.
    2. The tithe entitles one to the blessing.
  5. Offering…
    1. Any spirit-lead giving beyond the tithe.
  6. Firstfruit…
    1. The first increase from your last financial position – Ezekiel 44:30
    2. Proverbs 3:9-10
      1. Giving honors God.
      2. When you honor God, He will provide the necessities in life as well as life’s luxuries.
    3. The covenant is seen when you embrace the tithe, offering and firstfruit.
  7. Bless…
    1. An empowerment to prosper.
    2. An empowerment of the anointing which produces divine favor (God rearranging and re-orchestrating situations for your advantage).
    3. Psalm 5:12
  8. The blessing [of Abraham]…
    1. The manifested reality of the word of the Lord.
    2. The power of God.
    3. God’s word becomes the things that answers present day needs.
    4. The Word becoming the thing you need [to live].
    5. Psalm 89:34

 

  1.          I.            The giver’s exposure to the power of God
    1. Genesis 22:1-17 [Emphasis verses 1, 8-17]
      1. The test was not for God because He is omnipotent.  The test was to present to Satan irrefutable evidence that God justifiably has the right to bless the believer.   (verse 1)
      2. For God to give a harvest without a corresponding seed would be a violation of His system.
      3. Our compliance to the covenant by way of our tithe, offering and firstfruit is the record of proof God needs.
      4. Tithing is evidence you understand the covenant.  (verse 12)
      5. Even under grace there are conditions to the covenant.  In other words, God’s sovereignty is designed to override natural laws not spiritual laws.
      6. The ram appeared [from the word of God] after Abraham gave.  (verse 13)
      7. Until you become a giver, God cannot expose you to His sovereign power.
      8. When you pass the test [of giving], even your enemies cannot stop God from blessing you. (verse 17)
    2. Malachi 3:8-10
      1. You rob God of an opportunity to display His sovereignty when you dishonor the conditions of the covenant.
      2. God honors those that honor Him – I Samuel 2:30
      3. Honoring the covenant allows God to open the windows of heaven.  God speaks and whatever He says becomes what He said.
      4. In other words, God exposes the giver to the unlimited resources in heaven.
    3. Philippians 1:7
      1. As you sow into ministry, the same anointing that is on your spiritual leader comes on you.
    4. Philippians 4:19
      1. God supplies all the needs of the giver that consistently honors the covenant.
      2. Your seed becomes a thing.  God’s word becomes things and the things supply your need.
      3. God speaks a word over your life and whatever He says becomes the thing you need.
      4. The building material in heaven is the word of God.
    5. Romans 12:2
      1. The world we are to conform to is the world where God speaks and His word becomes things.
      2. Believer’s are to fashion after the supernatural realm not this limited natural realm.
  2.         II.            Examples of offerings evoking God’s power
    1. Genesis 15:1-9 [Emphasis verses 7-9] (Abram)
      1. The word of the Lord becomes what He said.  (verse 1)
      2. God answers Abram’s question of how when he gives.  (verses 8-9)
      3. God will reveal His plan for your life when you consistently comply with the covenant.
    2. I Kings 3 (Solomon)
      1. The Lord appeared to Solomon after Solomon offered 1000 burnt offerings.  (verses 4-5)
      2. Your giving arrests God’s attention.
      3. Solomon’s offerings were the catalyst to receiving from God.  (verses 9-13)
      4. The blessing of God is not only money but is wisdom also.
      5. Solomon received wisdom to resolve a dispute between two women and their babies.  (verses 16-28)
