INTRODUCTION

  1. Definitions of covenant
    1. An alliance or friendship with God [financially].  God desires to become a covenant friend in financial matters.
      1. Ephesians 6:10-11, KJV & AMP
      2. Ephesians 6:16
        1. Wiles, deceits, and fiery darts of the enemy can be categorized as loss of job, addictions, health issues, unexpected home or car repairs, bankruptcy or foreclosure.
        2. With God as a friend, we have armor to stand against any financial attack of the enemy.
        3. When God becomes a friend, He involves His sovereignty in our financial affairs so recovery from any losses in life becomes possible – St. Luke 15.
    2. A divine ordinance with signs of pledges.  Tithe, offering, and first fruit are signs of one’s pledges of a covenant friendship with God.
      1. St. Matthew 6:19-21
        1. Where we spend our money is a matter of choice and heart. Our giving is proof of what we believe and value.
      2. Philippians 4:14-17
        1. Treasures in heaven are amassed based on how we respond to the covenant.
        2. Believers are to respect God’s withdrawal process from the Heavenly system just as financial institutions’ processes are respected on earth.

REVIEW

  1. God’s sovereignty as defined in the scriptures:
    1. Psalm 135:6
    2. Psalm 145:3
    3. Ecclesiastes 8:3-4
  2. Definitions of sovereignty:
    1. God can use anything and everything to work His purpose on earth.  (St. John 10:10; Romans 8:28)
    2. Possessing supreme or ultimate power
    3. Acting or doing independently without outside interference
    4. Supernatural power unlimited by natural forces, not restricted by natural laws or natural beings
      1. There is no power that can defeat, deny, or defy God
    5. God’s authority over natural material (matter) or means
    6. Never limited by the power of created beings or the forces of the universe
    7. No laws [heavenly or earthly] can restrict, limit, or bind His power to perform His work (nothing stops God)

 

  1.          I.            A covenant friendship with God
    1. Psalm 35:27
      1. God will covenant with those believers that favor His righteous cause.
    2. Haggai 2:5-9
      1. When God is our covenant friend and we are in compliance with His system, there is no need to fear.
      2. With God as “ friend”, He can be trusted to:
        1. Loosen prosperity
        2. Lead to the silver and gold
        3. Cause the latter days to become better than the former days
    3. Numbers 23:19
      1. The covenant we have with God means He will make His word good.  God will bring to pass anything He has said.
    4. Genesis 22:12-14
      1. God must have our actions (giving) to prove alliance with the covenant.
      2. Giving is our movement in faith.
    5. St. John 6:5-14 (the miraculous feeding of over 5000)
      1. The young lad trusted his 2 fish and 5 loaves to His friend Jesus.
      2. We give our tithe, offering, and first fruit because we trust in our covenant friend Jesus.
      3. Miracles follow when we trust and make God our friend by covenanting with him.  His friendship makes provisions.
