(The Antidote for Forgetfulness)

FOUNDATIONAL TEXTS

  1. A.      Psalm 100:1-3
    1. In the realm of the natural, we are God’s people.
    2. In the pasture of God (the realm of the supernatural, the realm of miracles) we are as sheep.
  2. B.       Isaiah 53:6
    1. It has been said that sheep are forgetful animals that have either no memory or short-term memory; consequently, sheep cannot be trained.
    2. Because sheep have a tendency to forget they are supernatural beings, the word of God must become engrafted in them.

  1.          I.            Forgetfulness cancels the supernatural ability of God.
    1. A.      Psalm 88:12
      1. Psalm 88:12, KJV
        1. As long as we are forgetful [of God’s supernatural abilities], we will never appreciate God for all He has done and will do in our life.
        2. Forgetfulness [of things already done] is a sign of immaturity.
        3. Psalm 88:12, MSG
        4. Psalm 88:12, CEV
          1. In the realm of forgetfulness, you can never display the blessing of God in your life.
    2. B.       James 1:25
      1. James 1:25, KJV
        1. When you forget [the supernatural], the blessing (the empowerment to prosper) cannot overtake your life.
        2. James 1:25, NLT
        3. James 1:25-26, CEV
          1. When you allow your tongue to speak about only the natural facts is an indication you have forgotten [the supernatural].
          2. In other words, speaking naturally is an indication you have forgotten the spiritual realm.
          3. Philemon 1:6
            1. Your faith is activated when your tongue only acknowledge the good things.
            2. The word of God is speaking the message of God inside you for your life.
            3. You control your tongue by speaking only the message God has placed on the inside of you.
  2.         II.            The message of God engrafted in you is the antidote for forgetfulness.
    1. Definitions
      1. Engrafted…inborn, implanted by nature, implanted by the instructions of others
      2. Word…
        1. The message of God (or the word of God) comes in 2 ways:
          1. Logos – the Bible or the written Word (believers will not grow until we begin to study the Word)
          2. Rhema – the spoken or inspired word of God
          3. The divine expression (Christ Himself is speaking inside of you)
          4. Mouth, preaching, saying, speech, talk, utterance, uttered by a living voice, embodying a concept or idea, the sayings of God
          5. The Bible is the word of God but the Bible is not all God has to say.
    2. Judging the message of God by the barometer of peace
      1. Isaiah 46:9-11
        1. Whether God speaks a logos or a rhema Word, His message is about the future [not the present].
        2. The Bible will not tell you who and when to marry, when and where to set up a business, what house or car to buy, or even which relationships to pursue or to sever.  The accuracy and success of your life depends on the ability to hear a specific message from God in your spirit.
        3. Success means you are able to make consistent, balanced, and wise decisions.
        4. Colossians 3:15, KJV&The Amplified Bible
          1. The message you receive in your spirit from God should bring peace.
          2. Interrupted peace is an indication not to move forward.
    3. The specific message of God [beyond the Bible]
      1. James 1:21
        1. James 1:21, KJV
          1. God moves in your spirit at salvation.  Afterwards, He must have a way to impact your soul and body.  In other words, His voice [message] in your spirit renews your mind or soul.  (Scripture reference – Romans 12:1-2)
          2. When the soul is being saved, God is changing the way you think.
          3. 3.       Your spirit is saved instantly, but the winning of your soul is a process.  (Scripture reference – Proverbs 11:30)
          4. The Holy Spirit translates the written Word (logos) from the Bible to a specific Word (rhema) that can be used to successfully navigate life.
          5. James 1:21, MSG
          6. James 1:21, CEV
            1. God plants a message in you that can answer every question in life.
            2. James 1:21, AMP
              1. Jesus moves into your spirit to change a limited mindset and bad decision making.
              2. God’s message will always challenge your comfort zone.
            3. Ezekiel 12:25-28
              1. God will perform what He said that comes from your mouth.  (verse 25)
              2. The word of God that you receive should always be traceable in the Bible.  (verse 26)
              3. The message of God speaks specifically to your vision.  (verse 27)
            4. II Corinthians 5:17,The Amplified Bible
              1. When you obey the word of God, He can bring something new into your life.
            5. I Peter 2:25
              1. The Shepherd and bishop are speaking [not doctrines of devils] when you receive a rhema word.
                1. Shepherd defined…
                  1. He to whose care and control others have committed themselves
                  2. The one whose precepts you follow
                  3. The tasks of a near eastern shepherd were to watch for enemies trying to attack you, defend you from attackers, heal you if you are a wounded or sick sheep, find and rescue trapped and lost sheep; love the sheep, and share his life and earn your trust (when he speaks you will obey based on trust).
                  4. Bishop defined…
                    1. An overseer charged with the duty of seeing that things are done correctly by others (the bishop is reversing the curse).
                    2. Titus 1:7-9, The Amplified Bible
                      1. Holding fast to what you are taught is the mark you are receiving the right message from the framework of the Bible.
