We’re celebrating Black History Month! Parents, your children are invited to tour the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and everyone is invited to attend a special Sunday evening program celebrating education and empowerment.
New Life is celebrating Black History Month. As you may know, Black History Month is a national annual observance for remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated anually in the United States and Canada in the month of February and the United Kingdom in October. The remembrance originated in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson as “Negro History Week.”
Join us as we do our part to celebrate the national, social, scientific and political contributions by black americans during this month.
Student Ministry Field Trip – Birmingham Civil Rights Institute Saturday, February 6; 10:00 AM
Your child is invited to a field trip to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute as we celebrate Black History Month.
This activity will be Saturday, February 6th for children ages 6 and above. The cost is FREE and the students will depart 10:00 am and return 12:30 pm.
Parents, please have your children available to board the buses by 9:45 am. Signed permission slips must be submitted for each child. The departure and return location is New Life’s Center of Excellence.
African-American History Program – New Life Central Sunday, February 21; 4:00 PM
Join the New Life family as we celebrate African-American History on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the central location. Dr. Wilson Fallin will be one of our featured guests along with the Ramsay High School Orchestra, Carver High School Choir and the Arts-R-Us-4U Ensemble from Miles College! There will also be presentations from our New Life Christian School of Excellence and Learning Center at New Life students.
In addition, join us for a complimentary “Soul Food” lunch following the 10:30 AM service. The lunch will take place at New Life’s Center of Excellence.
This will be a celebration of education and empowerment. Make plans to attend!
