Grace to Receive the Lord God III
(Receiving His Word, Making Him LORD)
A.God is God to many but only LORD to a few.
B.The indication of LORDSHIP is you have adopted His words.
C.You walk in the grace to make Him LORD when you make His words your words.
D.How do you make the transition from God as simply God to becoming LORD over your situations?
1.Even the demons know Him as God. (James 2:19)
2.When you continue, seek and learn, the Word, you make God LORD over the situation you are addressing. (St. John 8:31-32)
a.When you continue in the Word, you make God LORD over the situation you are addressing.
a.The word of God in your mouth is one of the gateways to the Word penetrating your heart.
b.You moved from sin to salvation by making Jesus Lord with a confession.
a.When God becomes LORD, you lack nothing. The LORD protects you from your enemies.
b.You are shepherding yourself when you speak your words and not His words.
a.“Incline to hear” in verse 20 is straining to hear a life-changing Word.
b.This heart in verses 21 & 23 is the center of; that which is most important. In other words, you are to keep the Word as your central focus not the problem or the circumstance.
c.The word of Adonai is “life” to those that find it. The Word only produces in the life of those that find the relevant scriptures.
6.The LORD only rewards the diligent. (Hebrews 11:6)
E.Understanding the Phrase “LORD God”
1.The phrase “LORD God” is first mentioned in Genesis 2:4.
2.“LORD God” or Adonai is also Yahweh or Jehovah in Hebrew. Although the pronunciation is debatable, Yahweh or Jehovah carries the following meanings:
a.The LORD is the undisputed owner of all property.
b.Yahweh/Jehovah is an inexhaustible name. This carries the idea that God is timeless, self-sufficient.
c.The LORD God is a provider. As a provider, He can use anything He wants to bring provisions to you.
FOUNDATIONAL TEXTS & OBSERVATIONS
1.God gives Abram a vision to impact his heart.
2.The objective of the Word is to change your heart – how you think.
3.God places an image in you and that image becomes clearer and clearer as you embrace the Word. (Proverbs 1:18)
4.Church is designed to keep the image or vision of God before you and to keep you encouraged.
B.LORD God of Creation in Genesis 1
1.Genesis 1 (KJV & The Message Bible)
a.To begin anything in your life, you must say the right things from the Word.
b.St. John 1:1-4
1.Light came from in God. The word of God must be in your heart to call it out.
2.This process works for all men. (verse 4)
3.It is the intention of God that believers do as He does. (I John 4:17)
c.God spoke and created.
C.I Corinthians 15:10
1.The grace of God makes us who God wants us to be.
A.How Grace Comes upon your Life (magnifying the word of Adonai)
1.You magnify Adonai by making His word larger than any problem or situation you face.
B.The 9 month saga of Job (Old Testament)
1.Job does not have concept of the LORD God
1.Job magnifies the issues of his children instead of pronouncing the word of the LORD over them. (verse 5)
2.We can get to a place in the LORD where Satan can look at you but he cannot touch you. (I Peter 5:7)
2.Job gains concept of the LORD God
C.Jesus confronts Satan with the words of Adonai (New Testament)
1.St. Matthew 4:1-11
a.When you make the Word LORD over your life: devils leave and angels minister to you. (verse 11)
b.Jesus commissions angels on your behalf when you make the Word LORD. (Psalm 107; St. Luke 12; Hebrews 1)
c.When you shift from God just being God to Him being LORD, things also begin to shift.
