What to expect the first time you visit…
Attending a new church for the first time can be intimidating. Let us walk you through what you can expect the first time you visit The Life.
Who can attend service?
New Life Interfaith Ministries is an inclusive fellowship of believers! Our doors are open to everyone who seeks a greater relationship with Jesus Christ, who want to learn how to apply biblical principles in every area of their lives, and those who want to fellowship and develop lasting friendships with like-minded believers. We emphasize God’s grace and love in action, therefore we embrace all people. We accept all people regardless of race, national origin, social status, economic condition, gender-identification or sexual orientation.
Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God. – Romans 15:5-7
Ok, but what if I haven’t been to church in a long time? Or I’m from another denomination, Or I’m divorced? Can I still come?
ALL ARE WELCOME TO NEW LIFE INTERFAITH MINISTRIES WITH OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS, AND OPEN DOORS. We believe God’s grace is available to all people, no matter where you’re from, what you look like, or who you love. That’s why our communion table is open to all. The Ministry began in 1993 as twelve adults from two churches, one Baptist and the other Full Gospel Pentecostal, came together to form a single church. God used Pastor Matthews to guide the merger and unification of this fragment from the two congregations.
You aren’t going to make me stand up in service or do anything weird, are you?
No one will make you stand up and introduce yourself, or wear a special ribbon, or a big visitor name tag or anything like that. However, you may be greeted and welcomed by any number of our church family. Feel free to complete a First Time Visitor card at the Welcome Center or complete it online…this will help us get to know you. Our goal is to simply show you that you are welcome here. We pray you enjoy the worship experience from the parking lot to the sanctuary.
Will I have to meet with the pastor or join the church?
Nope. Our pastor is usually available after services to greet and speak with service attendees—but we will not ask you to join the church immediately, or ask that you get involved in any of our ministries right away. If you feel that God has led you to join our church, there will be an opportunity for you to do that. We don’t want you to just join to become a member, but rather a partner in the vision and mission of New Life Interfaith Ministries…therefore, it’s truly important that you are confident in your decision without any pressure from us.
When are the services? Is there a difference between the services?
There are two services on Sunday, and one on Wednesday (click here to view the full service schedule):
- 8:00 am – Sunday Hour of Power – A power-packed service that will have you in and out in time for brunch.
- 10:00 am – Sunday Worship Service – A mid-morning service with a traditional start time.
- 6:30 pm – Wednesday Study In The Word – A mid-week Bible study that enhances your full understanding of the Bible, its rich history, and how to apply it to your daily life.
Where are the services? You have several buildings… where should I enter?
Services are held at New Life Central. Parking attendants will guide you to the appropriate parking areas…be sure to let them know if you’re a first time visitor or need handicap assistance. There are several doors by which you can enter; all are accessible via wheelchair if needed.
How should I dress?
We want you to be comfortable attending service. You will find our congregation will dress anywhere from business formal (suits and dresses) to casual (tee, shorts, and sandals). Honestly, we’re just happy that you’re here!
Do I need to bring anything? Like a bible?
If you would like to bring a bible, you are welcome to do so, but it is not required. We have bibles if you would like to use them. We display the scriptures via projection and LED screens and have a guest wireless network (Welcome to New Life) for those who use the Bible on mobile devices.
I have children, will they be welcome in service?
ABSOLUTELY! Children of ALL ages are welcome. We have ministry designed to meet their needs. The Nursery accepts children 6 mos – 2 yrs. Student Ministry accepts children 3 yrs – 9 yrs. Junior Varsity & Varsity Ministry accepts children ages 10 – 13 yrs & 14 and up respectively. If your child is younger than 6 months, we can sit you in areas with easy access as we know an infants needs may change at a moments notice. The Nursery is located at the Central Location and Student, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Ministries are held at the New Life Center of Excellence.
What if I don’t know the songs?
You don’t have to sing—but do remember that any noise (no matter how off-key it may be) is a joyful noise in God’s ears! We sing many popular praise & worship songs…if you’re not familiar with the lyrics, they are projected on screen for all to participate in worship.
They’re passing a bucket around for money, do I have to give money?
We are always glad to receive any offerings for the support of all ministry programs, however it is not a requirement of attendance. We give in three ways: in an envelope in service, online via our website, or text to give via your mobile phone.
